Description

Well, this was a tough one. It took me over a half a year to make (most of this time was spent on making of the minigun though) and during this period I had to overcome a lot of things besides my spectacular laziness. There were tiredness to death, complete abscence of spare time, excitement, happiness, apathy and maybe even depression (I'm no expert in such things). Neverethless, whatever it was it's in the past now. I think.

Anyway, this sculpture was a lot of fun to make. Firstly I switched from FIMO to Super Sculpey Firm polymer clay and found that it is a lot easier to shape small details like eyes of eyelashes of it. It's pretty firm (duh!) and these small thingies don't get as ruined by accidential clumsy touches, which is very convenient. On the other hand, when compared to FIMO, Scupley is fragile as hell. Like, seriously, I think you can break thin pieces by simply looking at them! Wings, horn, base of tail: all these parts literally fell of during sculpting and I had to reglue them later and stick cracks with modelling epoxy putty. By the way, this putty is pretty good thing for fixing things and small errors during post-baking phase. I think I'll use it more often in my future works.

On the other hand, the minigun she is holding was quite a pain, mostly because it was my first time making something like this from scratch and I spent a lot of time thinking what to make and how to make it. I also had to order its painting in specialized shop because it needed to be spray painted (I find all these small details and gaps almost impossible to paint properly with brush and I wasn't smart enough to make it not solid) and I don't have proper facilities at home. In the end I think this thing turned out pretty well. Could be better though.

Anyway, despite of the fact that there is a couple of mistakes in this one I'm pretty happy with the overcome and techniques I learned. Hope I'll be able to make more of sculpts in the future.
