My favourite princess - spin

Look! This time I made a figurine of my favorite princess!
Well, to be honest, the top place in my personal 'Best princess' chart is shared by you and princess Celestia, but one of you just had to be first.

Anyway, this one was quite hard (but fun!) to make, since I never made figurines of alicorns before. First of all, alicorns' body proportions differ from ones of common ponies, that's why every princess needs (and deserves!) very personal sculpting approach. I even made a special pattern for this one to make her skeleton right. But the biggest problem I had to solve were wings. I wanted to make them as thin as possible, that's why they have no armature but a 1 mm wire in the leading edge at all. Originally this wire was about 1 cm long, but it turned out that while this may be enough for a common pegasus it's completely not enough for such big and heavy wing any princess has. So I just had to extend it to about 3 cm long, and this extension caused some difficulties in sculpting since wing skeleton wasn't solid anymore. The mane caused some difficulties too because despite I used tinfoil to reduce it's weight, it turned out to be quite heavy.

As for painting, I discovered that you should dilute Tamiya acrylics with vodka rather than tap water: the paint becomes less watery and applies better.
